I’m in an interesting phase of life right now; I’m no longer in high school but not yet in college. Back at graduation, when all of the juniors in my high school were freaking out about becoming seniors, I wondered what I was now that I was graduated. One of my friends gave me the answer: “Unemployed.”
He’s a riot. 😀
Now I’m only three weeks out from moving up to Utah for school, and filling all of my time with practicing piano, working (not unemployed anymore!) and otherwise preparing for the biggest transition of my life. Here are a few things that I’m loving right now:
- Apple Music. My dad hooked me up to his Apple account a few months back, so now I have access to tens of thousands of songs at the touch of a screen – but let’s be real, I really only listen to a few songs over and over again. I’m really enjoying Owl City (Owl City forever!), especially his new album Cinematic (my favorite songs in it are Cinematic and Not All Heroes Wear Capes; check them out). I’m also listening to a lot of MoTab, because I’m a choir nerd and The Spirit of God is what they would play at the Hill Cumorah Pageant to cue us into our opening positions, so the nostalgia is wonderful.
- Knock off AirPods. My dad gave me these for a birthday present and honestly, I didn’t think I was going to like them. But now that I understand how wonderful it is to be able to walk around without worrying about a cord catching on everything (or having to carry my phone when I don’t have pockets), I never want to go back. They’re especially handy when I’m at work packaging dessert supplies because there are so many things a cord could get caught on.
- Working out. I’ve never been a huge fitness junkie (just a nutrition junkie for almost two years) so working out is new territory for me. I’ve started to pick up running, which I’m actually enjoying for the first time ever (because it’s not painful for the first time ever). Because I don’t feel like getting up at 5:30 to beat the Arizona sun, I’ve been using our elliptical machine. I’ve also been lifting some weights and started this 30-day Ab Challenge, so we’ll see how this goes.
- Sewing. I’ve been messing around with my mom’s sewing machine for a few years, and I’ve managed to pull off some fairly impressive projects, if I do say so myself. 🙂 Today I finished a pleated skirt following this tutorial, except it’s knee-length and a navy blue with a metallic floral pattern. I’m hoping to get some good pictures pretty soon.
And that’s pretty much it! What awesome things are you loving right now?
